Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 1964 Gulf Oil 6ft tall porcelain sign!

Gulf Oil was a major global oil company in operation from 1901 to 1985 and was the eighth-largest American manufacturing company in 1941 and the ninth largest in 1979. Prior to its 1985 merger with Standard Oil of California and subsequent rebranding as Chevron, Gulf was one of the chief instruments of the Mellon family fortune; both Gulf and Mellon Financial had their headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, with Gulf’s headquarters, the Gulf Tower, built in 1932 and remained Pittsburgh’s tallest building at 582ft until the completion of the U.S. Steel tower in 1970 at 840ft tall.

This beautiful porcelain Gulf Oil sign is dated 1964 and marked SPS for Southwestern Porcelain Steel which was the Oklahoma based manufacturer of these signs for Gulf Oil corp. It would have hung at a fuel and service station by the road as an advertisement to solicit motorists into the station and still has an incredible presentation. It measures 6 feet and 1.5 inches tall and 6 feet and 7 inches wide and has several pre-drilled holes for easy hanging. It can also be crated for easy shipment. Perfect sign to hang in your garage, barn, or collection.
