Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 1973 Suzuki GT185 Adventurer!
Launched by Suzuki for the 1973 model year, the GT185 Adventurer was a small displacement commuter motorcycle with sporty looks and fun performance. It features an air-cooled 184cc parallel twin cylinder 2-stroke engine with 4-bolt mains and super cool “Ram-Air” cylinder head. The ouput was rated at 21 horsepower and 15 lb.-ft. of torque.
A 2.6-gallon fuel tank fed twin 20mm Mikuni carburetors that provided the fuel delivery and Suzuki’s CCI (Cylinder Crankcase Injection) system provided the lubrication. The transmission consisted of a traditional 5-speed manual with helical primary gears driving an 11-plate wet clutch and a chain drive. It featured a 12-volt DC generator electrical system that doubled as the starter motor, mounted on the left-side end of the crankshaft and a kickstarter was included as backup.
The suspension consists of a conventional telescopic fork featuring black gaiters along with dual preload-adjustable chrome shocks connected to the swingarm. Braking is handled by drums at both ends and factory chrome 18″ wire-spoke wheels are mounted with older Inoue tires. It also features center and side stands, passenger riding pegs, a tachometer, and a 100-mph speedometer.
This 1973 GT185 Adventurer is finished in Bright Blue Metallic, which was the only color offered in the inaugural 1973 model year, with a black two passenger seat, and chrome fenders, handlebars and two into one exhaust. This is a highly original 51-year-old example is a survivor still in very presentable cosmetic condition, and it runs and rides very well with just 3,140 miles showing on the odometer which is believed to be original to the bike.
