Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 8k-mile 1989 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe!

Designed by Corvette Chief Designer Dave McLellan, the C4 generation Corvette was a radical departure from the long-in-the-tooth C3 Corvette which ran from 1968-1982. Originally intended to be released as a 1983 model, production delays related to the complexity of the car pushed the release back to the 1984 model year. Two years later marked the return of the convertible for the 1986 model year in which the convertible was last offered on the Corvette in 1975. The C4 generation was well regarded for its handling and great performance in era and as such it experienced a long and successful production run from 1984-1996 before being replaced by the C5 generation in 1997.

This 1989 coupe was originally built in July of 1989 near the end of the model year’s production and was special ordered by Chevrolet Marketing with special delivery at the Corvette’s Bowling Green, KY assembly plant. Records show it to be a 3-owner Corvette and it is presumed it remained with Chevrolet until it was sold to its first titled owner on 3/22/1996 in Cleveland, OH. It would remain with this owner in Cleveland, OH for 17 years until being acquired by its second owner from Chagrin Falls, OH on 9/25/2013 with a reported 7,083 miles. The second owner would retain it for 1 year until selling it to its third owner from Auburn, IN on 10/25/2014 with approximately 7,900 miles. It would remain with this owner in Indiana for 9 years until our acquisition and today it presents with 8,088 miles.

For the 1989 model year Chevrolet produced 26,412 Corvettes: 16,663 coupes and 9,749 convertibles. This coupe is 1 of 4,759 produced in code 81U Bright Red and looks fantastic with its matching code 732 red leather interior. The original delivered MSRP was $34,218 which included $2,173 in options consisting of the $1,193 preferred equipment package, $425 red leather bucket seats, $250 6-way power passenger seat, $110 engine oil cooler, $75 radiator cooling fan, $58 illuminated sun visors, $40 heavy duty radiator, and $22 for the performance axle ratio. All 1989 Corvettes featured the L98 350ci 5.7L V8 rated at 245hp and this one is equipped with the 4-speed automatic transmission. It is highly original and in excellent preserved condition with original paint, interior, glass, and Goodyear tires with 1990 date codes.

Included with the Corvette is the original window sticker, build sheet, literature from the National Corvette Museum, original hardtop tool, original center cap tool, one original key, the original cassette-based owner’s manual, and the original Chevrolet branded Music Sampler cassette. Do not miss this incredible opportunity to acquire this highly original and well-equipped ’89 Corvette in a fantastic color combination with unique history and documented ownership.
