Ford developed the Focus as a high-volume compact passenger car to be globally sold and was offered in the U.S. from 1998 to 2007. It was offered in both coupe and sedan forms with a number of different trim levels, however, the most sought after is the rare SVT high performance model offered only in the North American market from 2002 to 2004. The SVT is the singular model that used the Zetec 2.0L Inline 4-cylinder co-developed with Cosworth. This engine produced 170 horsepower at 7,000rpm and 145 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,500rpm and was mated to a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission.
Additional enhancements by the SVT team included revised front and rear bumper facias’, side skirts, fog lamps, rear diffuser, hatch lip spoiler, and 17″ 5-spoke alloy wheels wearing sticky “Y” rated 215/45R17 Continental tires. For 2003, Ford offered the European Appearance Package which included HID headlights, power moonroof, the audiophile package with 6-disc in dash system, cold weather package with heated black perforated leather Recaro seats, engine block heater, traction control, and 15-spoke Dark Argent colored 17″ wheels. Additionally, only cars optioned with this package could be ordered in either Screamin’ Yellow or Competition Orange.
This ’03 Focus SVT was sold new at Mike Finnin Ford in Dubuqu, IA on 1/31/2004 and subsequently registered in Platteville, WI where it would remain with its original owner until our acquisition on 10/6/2023 with 343 miles and today it is offered with 345 miles. It is built in likely the most desirable spec with the $3,410 European Appearance Package and finished in Competition Orange with an original MSRP of $22,540. Per our research on Ford’s production figures, it is reported that 14,003 Focus SVT’s were produced: 10,751 as 3-door coupes and 3,252 as 5-door sedans. Of these 14,003 produced, just 422 of these were Competition Orange 3-door coupes; 301 for model year 2003 and 121 for model year 2004.
It is in excellent operating and cosmetic condition always remaining as a cherished collectible amassing just 345 original miles. Included in the sale is the original window sticker, SVT certificate, Marti report, original books/manuals, 2-sets of keys with fobs, service records, and a copy of the original WI title for historical purposes.
